Today, a news article is being published in the first page of “THE HINDU” news paper with regard to the nexus between a major supplier of food items to noon meal scheme implemented by Tamilnadu Government and politicians, bureaucrats (Refer link given above). It is shocking to read that the supplier gave kickbacks worth of Rs.2400 crore to politicians and officials. As per the news article, there is a mention about name of politicians, officials and their relatives in the seized documents ( in the form of “code word”). As an Anti Corruption organisation and a movement advocates for Good Governance, we see this as a serious issue in two aspects. One, illegal nexus between politicians, officials and a supplier which may possibly lead to a scam. Two, possibility of poor quality food supply to noon meal scheme(due to corruption) which is being implemented for more than 50lakhs students. Since the issue is related to a possible scam involved in the food supply consumed by 50lakh school students, we request the Income Tax department to take the following actions, immediately:

1. 1. Immediate hand over of documents with code names
which refer to politicians, officials and their relatives to Tamilnadu
Government and Central Government for their further action.( It is to be noted
that your department had seized the respective documents in July 2018 and it is
not being forwarded to concerned Governments, even after 4 months. ) Considering
the high level criminal aspect of the case, we request your department to take
immediate action on our request. (Upon your sending, we are going to request
the state and central Government to initiate a proper enquiry about the scam)
2. 2. Your investigation in the last 4 months may have
revealed the name of the real persons behind the “code word”. If so, immediately
conduct Income raid in the home/office of those politicians or officials.
Thanks,
Senthil Arumugam
